We have not had the opportunities to sail very many times since we put the mast back up in Midland, Ontario. Either the wind would be against us or there’d be no wind or navigating through the rocks would be too difficult under sail. Today we sailed. Turned the engine off, and just sailed! Wonderful! But, we reached the end of the channel leading up to the Bay of Islands, so we pulled in the Genoa, and turned on the motor again.
When you are looking for an anchorage for the night, you want someplace protected from the wind and waves, you don’t want any rocks too close, and you want the depth to be less than 20 feet, but not too shallow. The cove on the east side of Louise Island was perfect.
Night anchored behind Louise Island.
