Tuesday September 29 and Wednesday September 30, 2015
By the light of day it was clear how we should have entered the Tall Timbers marina the night before….. Between the two white poles. Oh well! We filled the water tanks, admired the marina’s gussied up porta potties, and then hit the river.
By 1:30pm we had covered 27 miles. It was too far to the next safe anchorage, so we pulled into a quiet spot below Bar Island for the night. Cocomo was just off our stern. Rained most of the evening, but we were snug inside our cabin.
On Wednesday we covered 53 miles with the help of the wind and the current. It was a beautiful day, and we saw flocks of white Pelicans migrating. Tied up for the night at Mel’s Riverfont restaurant dock in Hardin. The restaurant was closed due to a fire at the beginning of the summer, so there was no charge to tie up to the old steel dock. We went for a walk through the tiny tired town, then enjoyed dinner on board Cocomo.
