Grafton, the meeting of the rivers

It was another gorgeous day as we headed south on the Illinois River. I was excited. We would be on the Mississippi in just 18 miles. It was interesting when our Garmin chartplotter started showing the great River. The contours of the bottom were back, making it look like a giant blue ribbon.
We pulled into the Grafton marina and filled our diesel tanks. Then headed off to a restaurant across the street for lunch. I went swimming in the Marina pool (built into the floating dock), and we caught up with the three other looper boats in the marina.
At 4pm, Alison and Mark picked us up and drive us up to see the view at their B&b, Tara Point. Jim and I had loved staying there 3 years ago, and had vowed to come back. They had made arrangements for my mother, Jim, and I to come along to the grand opening of a Grafton winery’s second location, a few miles from town. Lovely spot, suitable for wedding and other events, lovely Apple crisp wine!
