It was cold and the north wind was blowing all day. We went through a lock, and managed to cover 34 miles before arriving at Two Rivers marina, across the river from Louisiana. They have a loaner car at the marina, so we piled in and drove off for dinner. There is supposed to be a two hour limit on borrowing the car, but the marina was closing at 5pm, and no one would be able to get it after that. We drove to the hardware store and the grocery store. No one in the grocery store had anything good to say about any of the restaurants in town. What to do? We looked at the time, it was only 4:30pm. Plenty of time to wander farther afield.
Jim and I had been to Hannibal three years ago, and we remembered the Mark Twain diner. Perfect! We stopped along the way at the various lookouts. Fun! Great dinner. Laundry at the marina, then we hit the sack.
Thank you so much for the wonderful supper and company last night aboard the Heron. I really enjoyed meeting all of you, the conversation and the wonderful food. Safe travels on the rest of your voyage. Much love, Cherie
