The Grafton ferry runs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We took the short ride across the mouth of the Illinois, thru a passage between two islands, and across the Mississippi River. Within an hour, we were in St. Louis! We drove by the arch, and stopped for lunch at Bogart’s Smokehouse. Their ribs lived up to their reputation as best in St. Louis! They cook them forever, then finish them with a blow torch. Gotta try them! From Bogart’s we walked to the historic Soulard Farmer’s Market! Lots of goodies there. Then it was onward to the History museum. They have a very interesting exhibit on the 1904 World’s Fair. At the Art Museum, Jim found the portrait of my namesake, Elizabeth Bordley. I am descended from her brother. Dinner at the museum cafe, then we were ready to retrace our tracks, and head back to the boat.
