We were about to pull up anchor when we saw Matt pull up to the Carver. Their engine would not start. Did we have jumper cables? No! But soon the boat was started, and we headed to lock 52, our last lock on the Ohio River.
By 4pm, it was threatening rain as we pulled in behind Cumberland Island and set out the anchor. We called the Carver. Would they like to come for dinner. Matt was coming too. I rowed over to pick them up. What is your name, I asked! We had been travelling together since Hoppies, south of St. Louis. Martin and Jen. I already knew that their daughter’s name was Kaylee.
We had a great dinner on Heron. Martin made me laugh when he commented that life on a boat is like this…… You pull up to a stoplight in your car, roll down your window, and ask the people in the next car if they’d like to come for dinner! Too funny!
Night anchored by the Cumberland Island towhead.
