It was a gorgeous day. Blue sky, fall color, crisp air…. We bundled up and head south on Kentucky Lake. I don’t know if we were seeing wispy fog or sea smoke, but it was beautiful.
We stopped at Pebble Isle Marina. Matt ordered a cheesesteak for lunch, Cocomo got diesel and a pump out, and we had a young man look at our engine. He diagnosed our new squeak and fixed it. Within 90 minutes, we were all back in the channel, moving on.
It was the golden hour, just before 5pm when we pulled into Cuba Landing Marina. I was at the wheel, and Jim was on the fordeck, preparing the docking lines, when we heard hooping and hollering, cheering me on as I steered us in. They were on a beautiful 52′ custom catamaran that was tied up to the dock next to ours. The group of 5 on the catamaran invited all of us over for a drink. Yeah! Judy and her husband Jack, the owners of the boat, could not have been more gracious. We all set up on the fly bridge, laughing and swapping tales until after dark. They were returning to Nashville, and had covered over 100 miles that day. Jack said that they named the boat Judy-lan because their kids thought anywhere Judy was was like Disneyland, and wonderful. Fun!
