On our national day of Thanksgiving, I’d like to thank everyone who made our Great Loop trip possible!
My lovey, who said yes!
To my bosses at Clark and Anderson who said, “Yes, you can take off for months at a time, as long as you are back for tax season!”
To everyone else at work who has had to cover for me while I am gone.
To our family who are behind us 100%.
To the entire crew at Gibson Island Boatworks who transformed our dilapidated and neglected 35 year old sailboat into a beautiful and fully functioning Heron! Your hours and hours of brainstorming and anticipating our needs on board during our year long trip have been worth it!
To the AGLCA, who have provided us and other loopers with support and information. We love flying our white Great Loop burgee, and can’t wait to hoist our gold burgee when we cross our wake!
And to all our friends, old and new, who have supported us, fed us, laughed with us, and helped us.
We are very thankful to have such a wonderful group behind us!
Thank you!
As for our day, we motored from Demopolis to Bashi Creek, where we anchored near another looper. Thanksgiving feast of turkey and gravy (from Wisconsin, we love our huge freezer), hominy, sauerkraut cooked all day with pork (it’s a Maryland thing), stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pecan pie (from a bakery in Columbus).
We have a lot to be thankful for!
