We were sitting just above the mud bottom when we woke up so I went for a walk around Dunedin. By 10am the tide was high enough! We headed thru the Pass at Dunedin out into the Gulf Of Mexico. Beautiful day as we sailed south a few miles offshore. We had to stay on crab pot watch almost the whole way to Tampa Bay.
We pulled into Gslati Yacht Sales and marina on Anna Maria Island just before sunset. We were in the slip next to our friends Mike and Marylin on SV Sweet Pea. The mangroves on the other side of our dock were alive with the ruckus made by Pelicans, cormorants, and ducks, all claiming their roost for the night.
We’d stocked up on yummy Greek pita and various spreads in Tarpon Springs. Perfect for drinks in our cockpit with Marylin and Mike. The birds had quieted down and it was a lovely evening.
Hi Jim and Liz
What a trip! Happy New Year! My folks lived in Longboat Key and we were down there frequently. My Dad played in the Annamaria Island orchestra. Marina Jack is not nice, but the place is generally beautiful.
Norma Girton says we should all get together when you get back.
Navigational tip: if you’re approaching the White Cliffs of Dover, turn around. Try undead reckoning. And no keelhauling unless really annoyed.
Mike
Let’s definitely get together with the Girtons when we go by Georgia!
