Marylin and Mike had a proposition for us in the morning…. They had a rental car, and they were going out to do laundry and have breakfast. Would we like to come? Yes! We did 4 loads, enjoyed breakfast, and stopped to see the beach on Anna Maria Island. Perfect!
It was 25 miles and two bridges that had to open for us, then we were in Sarasota at Marina Jack. I have mixed feelings about Sarasota. The Marina was nice, but charging us $3.65 per foot, the weekend rate, when we arrived at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon? That was our highest rate yet! And we’ve stayed at nicer marinas. I slipped on the dock and wrenched my shoulder. And I was a bit disturbed that there were no fewer than 7 homeless people either begging or sleeping on the sidewalk during our walk. Jim’s comment was that of course people would rather be homeless in Florida than the frozen north. Still, I didn’t like it when one man started following us. Creepy! We did like the fact that we could walk to Whole Foods for groceries and dinner. And we walked to a big movie theater complex to see Spotlight.
