They go all out for Christmas at South Seas Resort and Marina. They gave us a discount on our nightly rate if we had at least 100 lights decorating our boat. I had 600 white lights, and our Heron looked very festive.
On Saturday I made my third trip to the Ft Meyers airport, this time to pick up our son Brian and his wife Caroline. We had a great time hanging out at one of many pools, sipping tropical drinks. Yes!
At dinner we set a new record. We had 11 people seated for dinner in our cockpit. No one could move. Brian was by the hatch, and he served everyone. We had grilled marinated pork skewers that I had bought in Tarpon Springs. I made rice and a Greek salad. The hit of dinner was tackling stone crab claws with pliers and channel locks. Everyone got soaked from squirting crab juices. After dinner we wandered around the lawn next to the marina. You would have thought that it was a New England Christmas. The “snow” was blowing, a man played Christmas music on his stell drum, we toasted marshmallows for S’mores, and Santa listened to children’s wishes. Most of the boats in the marina were lit up, and the Palm trees were wrapped in white lights. Quite magical!
