I had called the day before and made a reservation for lunch at Little Palm Island. I’d read about the very expensive resort, and I knew that they are very protective of their guests’ privacy. They also don’t want bozo’s trooping into their serene dining room wearing beach wear or t-shirts. Jim put on a collared polo shirt. We both wore shorts, and we were on our best behavior when we pulled up to the resort’s long dock, just off the channel. I had talked to the dockmaster on our radio. The water was deep enough at the end of the dock, and no one was due into that space until the following day.
We arrived early, at 10:15. We were told that at 11am we could come up and read newspapers and get a drink if we’d like. Or we could go to the gift shop. I love resort gift shops. You never know what you will find!
We were seated for lunch at a corner of the porch. We had a panoramic view of the beach and the water. Lots of shore birds were hunting for their lunch as we ate ours. It was a wonderful lunch! Expensive but worth it.
By 1pm we were stuffed. The Key Lime pie was delicious! We headed to Key West, putting the pedal to the metal with the added boost from the main sail and Genoa.
We made it to our slip at the Key West City Marina at Garrison night, right by Rt.1, 10 minutes before sunset. Yeah! Great day!
