We left our slip at the Garrison Bight Marina and stopped for diesel at another Key West marina. We were right behind a big motor boat. I just sidled into the dock, and stopped right behind them, easy!
We had gone along the southern shore of Key West when we came west from Marathon. We decided to head out the Northwest channel and head East along the northern side of the lower keys. We were so far out in the Gulf of Mexico for most of the day, we couldn’t see the Keys.
We turned south and followed a channel to Tarpon Belly Key. Nice spot to anchor!
Jim rowed me to shore. My shoulder has been killing me since Sarasota, so I have not been able to row. The little island used to be used for packing or processing seafood. Bits of old docks remain. We became acquainted with the local inhabitants as we explored. No see ums! They were in my hair, behind my ears, going down my shirt via my neck. It was a quick tour of the otherwise lovely spot, then we hopped in the dinghy and beat a hasty retreat to safety on our bug free boat.
Night at anchor at Tarpon Belly Key, near Knockemdown Key and Rattlesnake Lumps!
