After 8 nights at Riviera Beach Marina, we were ready to move on. It was another beautiful day as we pulled out of the marina, turned north, and headed up the waterway. Lots of bridges, lots of beautiful homes along the way. It was a bit hectic going past the Jupiter light. We were following a tow and barge, plus another sailboat. We had one bridge before the Jupiter inlet, then we turned a corner near the inlet, and there was another bridge. The current was racing thru there, against us! Nuts! Our friends Jenny and Lee live right at that spot, so I can understand how entertaining it would be, watching the boats go by from their home. The good news is that we kept up with the other two boats for the bridge openings, and we didn’t run aground.
The tug and barge pulled off the waterway, and we passed the sailboat. From there, it was miles and miles of condos, private homes, marshes, draw bridges, and Ospreys. By the time we arrived at Stuart, the other sailboat was still behind us. We turned off the waterway, and made our way past a very shallow area into Manatee Pocket. We tied up at the marina where my brother keeps his boat. Nice place with a pool. The sailboat that had been following us all day tied up too. They figured that we knew where we were going, and they would go there too. I spent some time trying to help Holt, on the other sailboat, put Active Captain on his phone. I love being able to access the charts, where we are located, and information on bridges, marinas, and anchorages from my phone while underway!
A storm hit soon after we’d tied up. Nice to have a safe place for the night.
Night at Mariner’s Cay Marina.
