At this point, our alternator was not charging our batteries at all. We hoped to make it to Daytona Beach, 42 miles away where we could plug into shore power, and hopefully get our boat fixed.
It was another gorgeous day. All the rain clouds have been stuck over Maryland, or so we’ve heard.
We had long stretches of open bays, being very careful to stay in the channel. We unfurled the genoa for a sail up Mosquito Bay. No insects, but lots of manatees swimming in the bay. We passed some very nice trailer parks and properties with modest homes. Very different from what we had seen along th waterway farther south.
We pulled into Daytona Marina and Boat Works with 64% SOC. Cutting it close. We don’t want to go below 50%. At that point we would have lost our chartplotter, radio and refrigerator. We had turned off the frig off and on during the day to save power.
I used to work with Connie 10 years ago. Connie, her husband, and their 2 two kids joined us on our boat for dinner. Fun!
