Jim had been talking to technical support at Balmar, and he’d been writing down the results of various tests he’d been asked to run under various conditions. As far as we could tell, the alternator was dead.
I rented a car from Hertz, the mechanic took the alternator out of the boat, and then we were off. Our destination was an alternator shop in Wilmington. The alternator was working fine, they said. Agh!!!!! We told the mechanic about our previous problems, and sure enough, our little 50 cent part that was installed in Daytona Beach had failed. After getting on the phone with Balmar from the shop, it was decided to add another wire to get around our problem.
By the time we were finished at the shop, it was too late to make it back before anyone could reinstall our alternator. We drove through a thunderstorm to see a movie. Love and Friendship was funny and clever. I love Jane Austin! Dinner at a sushi restaurant next to the theatre. Yum!
Second night at Southport Marina.
