We had the alternator, I’d arranged for Hertz to pick up the rental car at the Marina, but the mechanic had another job and sea trial before he could get to us.
Finally at 3:15pm we were all set to go. The alternator was charging our batteries again, it was another beautiful day, and we cast off our lines.
We past the little town of Southport, dodged a car ferry that was returning from Bald Head Island, and headed north up the Cape Fear River. We took the Snows Cut through to the Myrtle Grove Sound. We were between a barrier island (Wrightsville Beach) and the mainland.
Anchored for the night after motoring for 5 hours next to a marsh at the Figure Eight Bridge. Not too many bugs, it was a lovely evening.
