Wednesday June 22 – Thursday June 23, 2016
It was windy on Wednesday morning, and we didn’t get off until 10:15am, waiting for calmer seas. It looked like we were at sea most of the day, out of sight of land. A dragon fly landed on Jim’s hand, and stayed for about an hour. He did choirs, moving about, and the dragon fly hung on! We came up a long channel on the South East end of Roanoke island. By 7:15pm, we were tied up in a slip in the Outer Banks Marina in Wanchese, Roanoke Island. Lots of fishing boats there, no sail boats.
We invited Jim’s Friend’s School classmate over for dinner. We’d seen Pat at their 50th reunion in May. Fun evening!
On Thursday morning, Pat picked us up and drove us to see the Wright Brothers Visitor Center. Very interesting place. We loved the replica plane inside the visitor’s center.
Originally we had hoped to leave on Thursday mid-day, but a thunderstorm struck at lunchtime, and we stayed in Wanchese for a 2nd night. I walked to the fish store for fresh flounder. It was fabulous pan fried.
Two nights at Outer Banks Marina.
