We pulled up anchored and motored by Marc and Nicola’s boat. They were headed to a different place than us, but they promised that they would come visit us on Gibson Island, (and they did after our trip was over).
We were headed for Oxford. We had a reservation to stay at the Brewer Oxford Marina, where they had a pool! We would be joining my old friend Jane and her significant other Ron for dinner. We were sailing up the bay when I heard from Mel and Doug on Clarabelle. Thanks to us, they had some fresh Tangier Island crab meat. They are from Indiana, doing the Great Loop, and Mel had never made crab cakes before. They had walked around Tangier Island, quizzing everyone on the best way to make crab cakes. In the little grocery store, they had bought Old Bay Seasoning. The crab cakes were made, and they loved them. There were three left over. Mel and Doug were on their way to Solomon’s Island in their fast boat Clarabelle. I explained that we had left Solomon’s, headed to Oxford. Clarabelle cruises at 30 knots. They would come to Oxford, and deliver the crab cakes.
We travel at 6 knots, so we arrived at the Marina in Oxford hours after Doug and Melanie had arrived.
What fun it was to see them and get their crab cakes, made with the crab we had bought on Tangier Island.
I reformed the 3 uncooked crab, cakes, making lots of little crab balls for our cocktail party on the boat with Jane, Ron, Mel, and Doug. Then we all went out to dinner together. Fun!
Night at the Brewer Oxford Marina, with several swims in the pool.
