Wednesday, May 20, 2015 My brother called and wanted to know if I’d like to go watch the Blue Angels perform over the Severn River as part of commissioning week at the Naval Academy. At first I said no. Too much to do to get ready for our Great Loop trip. But, a chance to sail on my brother’s 50′ catamaran, and watch the Blue Angels was too much to resist. I’d seen the Blue Angels before, but never from the water. I swear that the pilots were using my brother’s tall mast as a vantage point because Fat Albert (the huge prop plane that leads the show) barely cleared our mast. Well maybe I am exaggerating, maybe the plane was 150 feet over our mast. Still very close, and very thrilling. Fun day. Then we sailed home while enjoying fried chicken from Angel’s Market. The best fried chicken ever!!!
