we pulled up anchor and were underway by 6:15am. Our timing was perfect. High tide at Reedy Point, at the Eastern end of the Canal, would be at 11:51am. The rising tide sucked us through the Canal at 8 knots. We felt like we were flying! We reached Delaware Bay at 9am. It was flat calm and serene, despite the nuclear power plant. At some point, we noticed that the tide had changed. We were flying along at 8 knots again, headed south for Cape May arriving, at 5:15pm

Night at South Jersey Marina in Cape May. Great marina! Fabulous bathrooms! We filled the diesel tanks, walked one block to the Lobster House for a delicious dinner (split an order of raw oysters and the seafood sampler dinner), and enjoyed the view of the full moon.

Miles traveled: 70 (a big day)
