The Trip from Hell

Thursday May 11, 2017

i started out at the helm. We motored out of Cape May harbor at 9:45am, into the frenzied Atlantic Ocean. Everything that wasn’t secured was soon flying onto the cabin sole. We had on full foul weather gear, our PFDs, and we were hooked onto the jack lines. It was a wild and wet ride up the coast of New Jersey. Sitting behind the wheel, I felt like I was riding a bucking bronco. The waves were 3 to 4 feet, and it was hard to move about the boat. I always worry that one of us will fall in those rough conditions, and break something.

Aftee 3 hours at the wheel, I had to use the head. Jim took the wheel for the rest of the trip, another 3 hours.  I curled up on the cabin sole (floor) with a blanket and my hot water bottle, and just waited for it to be over. Not the kind of day I like!

Finally, at 4:45 we pulled into Kammerman’s Marina in Atlantic City. Great little marina.

Total miles travelled; 39
