It was a miserable day to leave our home and continue on the Great Loop. It was a northeaster, raining, cold, white caps, the whole deal. We climbed into our foul weather gear, said goodbye to most of the Boat Works crew, and headed out at about 8:30am. Once we reached the Chesapeake Bay, the waves picked up. The word of the day was “bang” as the going, straight into the winds and waves was rough.
Three hours into our trip we discovered that our alternator was dead and we had 0% state of charge on our house battery bank. Not good! We were near Tolchester Beach marina, so we pulled in there to evaluate the situation by phone with our wonderful electrical consulantant and to plug into shore power to recharge the batteries. Night at Tolchester Beach Marina. Returned home the next day.
