Day 4, Bangkok

We are staying in a marvelous place, the Chakrabongse Villas, on the River across from the Temple of the Dawn. The main building was built in 1908 by Prince Chakrabongse as a retreat. He was the son of King Chulalongkorn and the grandson of King Mongkut (immortalized in the King and I). His granddaughter now owns the property and has created a 7 room boutique hotel. We have the River view suite for 4 nights, with a living room, study , bedroom, shower and jacuzzi plus extensive patios and 5 outdoor seating areas, just for us. I love sitting at the end of the terrace, watching the River traffic go by. At night the Temple of the Dawn is lit up in golden splendor. There is also an outdoor covered day bed for relaxing, an area where our breakfast is served, 2 sun beds, and a square table with 2 chairs overlooking the garden. Yesterday we went swimming in the pool after a trip to the huge weekend market. The gardens are lovely and the property has a gate. Feels very special and safe!
