We left Atlantic City at 6am, taking the inlet out to the Atlantic Ocean. The day was hot and the ocean was like a pancake, flat. we stayed a few miles offshore, keeping an eye on the weather. We were lucky as no thunderstorms appeared as we headed north past Sandy Hook and into a harbor on the south side of Staten Island. We’d heard about the Great Kills Yacht Club and John, the looper harbor host from the Great Loop forum, and both were great. John helped us tie up at the end of a T dock, and promised to come by in the morning to troubleshoot a few problems we were having with the boat. The sun was setting as we said goodbye to my brother who hired a driver and car to take him back to his car at Atlantic City. Long day! We were glad to have our Atlantic run behind us.
