Day 10 Cruising Gulf of Thailand

Saturday, November 12, 2022

Our first of two full days at sea on Viking Orion. I believe there are about 840 passengers on board with approximately 400 crew. Small size is nice. We decided to try room service for breakfast. No extra charge for any of the restaurants or room service. I had a bagel with smoked salmon and my lovey had an omelet. Plus juice and fruit, and tea! Yum!
At 10am, there were to be various games in the Italian restaurant. I took my 5 decks of cards, hoping to find someone who wanted to play hand and foot canasta. Instead I ended up learning how to play American mahjong. I like Chinese mahjong better! We went to the outdoor grill by the main pool for lunch. It was the best cheeseburger I have had in ages. After lunch I taught two women how to play hand and foot canasta, Jim and I went swimming in the infinity pool at the stern and he got his first professional haircut in a half century! In the bow of the ship they have a planetarium and we learned more about the planets and the constellations, especially Orion (the name of our ship). I fell in love with the little light powered globes they sell in the gift shop. So cute! And very appropriate for our around the world in 80 days trip!

It was a treat to have room service!
The tv in our room is not just smart, it is brilliant! Keeps track of our daily activities, shows the ship’s position on the map, lets us the menus of the day, plays movies, and tempts us with information on other Viking cruises. And it tells us the time!
Can you almost imagine how yummy this cheeseburger was!

Amazing little globe (a little bigger than my fist). No batteries. Slowly spins when there is light.
I always cut my lovey’s hair. But not today!
Musician playing in the central lobby area was lovely.
