Day 25. Jumping Crocs!

Sunday, November 27, 2022

We had signed up for a bus excursion to see the jumping saltwater crocodiles in the Adelaide River, about an hour’s drive from Darwin. We were on the bus by 7:45am, and the commentary from our tour guide/bus driver was very interesting.

Once we were settled in our seats on the pontoon boat, our captain explained that he is required by law to instruct us on the use of the bright orange PFDs that were stored over our heads. But, he noted, with a River teaming with hundreds of salt water crocodiles, we really did not want to be in the water, with or without a life preserver. After our little cruise, we returned to our ship and cast off around 12:30pm.

Hundreds of crocs would surely rush “to our aid” if we fell in the water!
