Day 50, Lake Tekapo

Thursday, December 22, 2022.

At 4am I rode down the guest elevator, my quarantine was Over! We took an Uber to the Wellington airport, and by 7:30 am we were in Auckland.
I had arranged for a Kia Ora campervan that slept 3. I knew from my brother’s experience in New Zealand that we needed a diesel heater for cold nights. The campervan was a Mercedes model and it was very nice. Toilet, hot and cold water, shower, frig, stove, comfortable bed, and relatively easy to drive, once I got the hang of driving on the left.

We met up with our daughter Katie and her family in Fairlie. Had to buy the first of many meat pies!

Night camping at Lake Tekapo Riverview holiday park. Nice place, not too close together, view of the Lake from my bed!

We walked to the hot springs down the street and spent some time in the various pools. The farther you are down the hill, the cooler the water. Then I jumped in the Lake with Katie. That was cold!

Our camper van!
The Fairlie meat pies are famous! Lines out the door.
The scenery kept getting more and more beautiful!
