Day 62, Pearl Harbor and North Shore.

Monday, January 2, 2023.

We tried to get tickets online for the boat trip out to the Arizona in Pearl Harbor, but it was not meant to be.

We piled into the back seat of Fred’s Tesla, and off we went to visit the museum and exhibits of Pearl Harbor. Glad we went. It builds on our time at the D day beaches in Normandy last spring.

After our visit, we headed north toward the North Shore, home to big waves, surfers, and slow traffic. My favorite memory of the pipeline area was of lots of young men standing on a picnic table, intently watching the surfers. They would collectively gasp or goan or cheer as the surfers sliced thru the surf.

We weren’t sure if we would get there in time, to buy carry out pork luau luau, but we did! Ate it back at their home! Delicious.
