On our snorkel trip on the previous day, a couple sitting next to us told us about their 90 minute whale watch trip with Red Line Rafting. So I booked it for us for 9am.
The kitchen at our hotel opened at 7:30am, and they were able to prepare us each a smoked salmon bagel. Really good!
The whale watch left from the boat ramp near our first hotel. It was a RIB that they launch from a trailer. Goes fast! We saw lairs of whales, none of which I really captured with my I phone. Near the launch, a mother and calf were just hanging out together. A bunch of paddle boarders were in a ring around them. Just watching them.
After our whale watch we mailed a box of gifts home and took a swim in the pool.
We walked a mile along the main drag in Lahaina to the Old Lahaina Luau. Beautiful setting by the ocean. Unlike hotels that put on luaus, this space was just for luaus.
We were greeted and presented with a real flower lei. Our waiter showed us to our table No buffet line. If we needed a drink or anything to eat, our waiter brought it to us. I was glad that I had booked to sit at a table with chairs. We watched the people at traditional seating (seated on cushions on the ground at low tables) start to squirm as the evening progressed. They had a ceremony to unearth the pig that had been cooking all day underground. Dinner was delicious. The show was very good. They traced the history of Hawaii thru dance. We’d seen many of the dances before at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu.
