Day 74, Allerton Garden

Saturday, January 14, 2023

We had a morning flight to Kauai, and this time we had a rental car from Thrifty, a tiny vehicle.

We drove north to Kapa’a to check out our Airbnb near the Coconut Marketplace, where we bought lunch.
We had a reservation for the tour and bento box dinner at the Allerton Garden, starting at 3:30. There were 10 of on the tour plus our guide/van driver.

The land had once been owned by Queen Emma. It was bought by a very wealthy man, Robert Allerton, who transformed the land into a series of garden rooms. It is said that he lived to entertain guests in the garden. Many movies have been filmed in the garden. Very interesting tour.
