We were tied up on the Hastings lock wall, and we couldn’t lock through until 9am when the lock opened. What to do? I walked two blocks to a convenience store, for a license, then around the corner for a pack of worms. Grace and I were going fishing off the boat while we waited for the lock to open. No luck fishing, but there is always another day!

it was a long day on the boat. We spent an extra two hours on Rice Lake, seeing the entire 20 mile length. When we could have cut into the mouth of the Ontonabee River when we were 2/3 of the way down the lake. Oh well! It was a beautiful day, and we had a good time exploring. The  river twists and turns, with many “no wake” zones. Finally at 5:20pm we reached the Scott’s Mills lock, and were the last to go through before they closed.
