We usually call each lock as we approach. On Saturday afternoon, the young lock attendant answered with “lovesick lock”! I told him that it was the best name ever. It’s next to Lovesick Lake. I wonder how the name evolved.
It was a gorgeous sunny day with light breezes from the west. We motored (slowly) past some of the most scenic areas on the Trent Severn Waterway. We ventured past Hell’s Gate and into Stony Lake. We’d heard that you should not leave the channel as rocks and rocky islands are a dime a dozen there.
At the end of the day we passed thru Lovesick lock and headed for our anchorage off the Beachwood Resort. The sky had been grey, then black, as a line of thunderstorms approached. Everyone went into the cabin except Jim and I. We put on our foul weather geSr and had ball, motoring thru the pouring rain. The bimini is wonderful at these times, keeping us fairly dry.
We anchored and had dinner for 8 around the table. Grace started counting every time she saw lightening, and we’d figure out how far away the storm was.
Finally the storms past, Kate, Ira, and their three kids rowed to shore to their room at the Beacheood.
