If my father were still alive, he would have been 101 today! I still find it rather amazing that my father proposed to my mother on their first date. It’s been wonderful having my mother and my daughter and her family on board for the weekend. They went thru the Bobcaygeon lock with us, helped us tie up on the upper side of the lock (not on the blue line), then headed back to Vermont
Some locks along the Trent Severn Waterway are in very rural areas. They have picnic tables and restrooms, and very little else. Since Young’s Point (arrived there Friday), we’d been travelling thru the Kawartha Lakes region. This is a tourist area, as well as an area where many Canadians have waterfront homes with lots of toys… Boats of all sizes, jet skis, sliding boards, floats, etc… The town of Bobcaygeon was perfect for boaters. A huge shoe and clothing store across the street from the lock, a wonderful grocery store within 1/2 block of the lock, and restaurants and stores galore. Grace and I went bathing suit shopping, while Jim searched for shorts. Fun town.
After a relatively short day on the water, about 15 miles, we tied up on the lower lock wsll for Fenelon Falls, lock 34. We had a great view of the falls from our boat and from the redtaurant that faces the falls across the river.
Night at lock 34.
Lovely family pictures! So glad the “fort” you put so much thought into is being utilized. Looks like a wonderful trip. Jenny
